Medjugorje is a special place visited by thousands of pilgrims each year in search of the spirituality and serenity that exists there.

Six children from this small village located in the southwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina reported a series of visions of Our Lady that began on 24 June 1981 and still continue today. (see links below for more)

The visionaries, Ivan, Jakov, Marija, Mirjana, Vicka and Ivanka report that Our Lady’s mission is one of peace and love and that she tells us “I have come to tell the world that God exists. He is the fullness of life, and to enjoy this fullness and peace, you must return to God”.

Medjugorje is a unique and extraordinary place of inspiration and peace. Millions have rediscovered their faith and opened their hearts to a true peace and love towards themselves and humanity. It is not easy to tell the whole story of Medjugorje which if at all possible must be experienced individually. Why not join us and find out for yourself?

While on pilgrimage, the group will be looked after by Joe Walsh Tours local team of qualified and experienced team of representatives providing local support and making sure that everything runs smoothly from start to finish. The senior representative Philip Ryan has spent over 20 years living and working in Medjugorje, acquiring valuable knowledge on the pilgrimage site and its environs and an incomparable experience catering for pilgrim needs. He and his dedicated team are always on hand to ensure you have a truly enjoyable pilgrimage.

Medjugorje [meaning ‘between the hills’] is situated between Citluk and Ljubuski, about 12 miles south west of Mostar. The parish of Medjugorje contains four villages including Bijakovici where the ‘Hill of Apparitions’, Mt. Podbrdo, is situated. Mt. Kricevac, ‘Cross Mountain’ is also close by. One of the other villages is Surmanci, where an icon of the Divine Mercy is displayed. | interactive map | live webcams

“I wish that you go back home as a really rich person. I want you to go back home together with the pearl you have found in Medjugorje; with the treasure Our Lady wants to give every one of you as her beloved children. It is what she wants, but it doesn’t depend on her. You must desire that too.” ~ Fr. Jozo Zovko

“There are some places and some people in life that ‘mark’ you forever. Once you have come in contact with them, they revive in you everything that seemed buried within your heart forever.

Then you recapture a life full of joy, serenity and purpose. You understand the reason you are living, where you have come from and where you are going. You take your life back into your hands with vigour. You rediscover a design of love in your life that trials and difficulties have buried. Then you feel like a new person, and even others are aware that something has changed in your life.

The place that has ‘marked’ me and millions of other people is called Medjugorje. It is different from other places because there is a ‘Presence’ there that you do not see but whose effects and benefits you gather. It is a Presence that speaks to our hearts and manifests itself in a personal manner for each one of us.

This Presence is Mary, the Mother of God. In Medjugorje we discover that this mother, the Queen of Peace, wants to enter our lives. That is the reason She says to us “Dear children, accept me in your lives, because I desire to bestow my love upon You.” ~ words by Fr. Luigi Ferrari, adapted from the book: ‘Medjugorje, A Testimony’.

Medjugorje is NOT Prohibited by The Church (by Sr. Emmanuel, Medjugorje, June 29, 2015

NB This article is since overtaken by the Vatican's (limited) approval of Medjugorje and appointment of an Envoy in Medjugorje

Dear brothers and sisters, peace!
As you can guess, we are receiving a lot of questions about the position of the Church regarding the apparitions of Our Lady in Medjugorje.

Once more, we are facing a modern disease - to read, comment and become passionate about media statements when its first goal is not always to convey the truth. Many in the media are pushing their own position with a great deal of noise. Of course one may express a personal opinion on the subject, and slip in snippets of the truth. But whoever wishes to be informed about the truth of an important  matter can do it in a way that is secure and that heals the confusion, disorder, doubt, bitterness, rebellion, or even triumphant satisfaction which does not necessarily come from the Holy Spirit.

The way to do this is easy: just go to the source of the information! And the only source of information from the Holy See is the spokesman appointed for this purpose: Father Lombardi. Whoever is looking for a recent statement from him regarding the position of the Holy See on Medjugorje will not find one! Whoever is searching the Vatican website on the subject will find nothing, not a thing.

What does this mean? The media virus has struck once again, sowing turmoil in many hearts with all its contradictions. The truth is that neither the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (the CDF), nor the Pope have issued an official statement about Medjugorje. They have not even held a meeting to address the subject together. In addition, no meeting has been scheduled during the summer. It is also very likely that the theme of the family - the great theme of the year - will take precedence over the Medjugorje issue. So, let's be patient!

All those who have experienced many graces in Medjugorje and who have wholeheartedly followed the school of the Queen of Peace should be reassured, because today we can state the following: · Medjugorje is not forbidden by the Church.· The Pope has not yet taken a stand on Medjugorje. · Everyone can travel there in private pilgrimage without disobeying the Church. · The messages are not prohibited, everyone can disseminate them and especially live them. · The visionaries have not been declared to be false.

The Holy Father carries a great responsibility, because the final word will depend on him. We know that Cardinal Müller, prefect of the CDF, has sometimes expressed negative statements regarding Medjugorje. That is why, in this time of grace and struggle, we need to pray a lot to the Holy Spirit for the Holy Father, and also fast for him. May the will of God be fulfilled!

Whatever position Rome will express through official channels, we will obey it. Obedience will be the best sign that we are walking with the Queen of Peace, with the Church and not without the Church. Mary is relying on us to help her fully realize her plans. Because, let us not forget: "In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph." Sr. Emmanuel +

It is accepted that final judgement on authenticity of any claimed Medjugorje apparitions rests with the Holy See

Medjugorje Commission of enquiry: In an interview to Radio BH to be broadcast on December 20, 2013, the Sarajevo Archbishop, Cardinal Vinko Puljic has again confirmed that the Medjugorje Commission is still at work. During the interview the Cardinal responded to a question put to him about any emerging clarification on the Medjugorje phenomenon: “The Church does not forbid anyone to pray to God, wherever there is a right to pray. When it comes to the phenomenon of Medjugorje, I serve on the Commission and I can not give anything to the public. The Church is slow but is is very thorough in the study of these things. “The Commission has yet to move to examine all details and probably still will not make a final judgment because the visionaries still claim to have seen apparitions. The Church will provide some guidance and we, as a committee, will submit the results of the investigation to the CDF who will develop its own proposal to submit to the Pope who makes the decision. So, it’s a process, ....” Article credit: Bernard Gallagher. read more

The image left is a painting of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Adrian Mills [RIP 17th March 2007]

Description: This painting is an artist’s impression, derived from the description given of the apparition of Our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Peace, by lvan Dragicevic when She appeared to him at 10.30 p.m. on the night of Tuesday 12 May 1998 on the Hill of Apparitions, Podbrdo in Medjugorje, Bosnia - Herzegovina.

She asked for prayers for priests, bishops, the Holy Father and the sick. At the end of the apparition, “She departed for Heaven with the brilliant light of the cross behind Her” She also “took all the petitions presented to Her and extending Her hands, blessed everyone”.

In meetings in Medjugorje the diffusion of this card (note: the image with narrative is distributed as a postcard) was welcomed by Fr Slavko Barbaric who asked that the 25 April 1999 message be included:

“Dear Children! Also today I call you to prayer: Little Children, be joyful carriers of peace and love in this peaceless world. By fasting and prayer; witness that you are mine and that you live my messages. Pray and seek! I am praying and interceding for you before God that you convert; that your life and behaviour always be Christian. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Message of March 14, 1985: "Dear children! In your life you have all experienced light and darkness. God grants to every person to recognize good and evil. I am calling you to the light which you should carry to all the people who are in darkness. People who are in darkness daily come into your homes. Dear children, give them the light! Thank you for having responded to my call."

Hvaljen Isus i Marija. Kraljica Mira, moli za nas. Praised be Jesus and Mary. Mother of Mercy and Queen of Peace, please pray for us.
